Merry-go-round is a community venture that couldn’t run without the support of all you lovely people.
Volunteering with Merry-go-round is a great way to be part of something rewarding that makes a difference in the local community and beyond. Our amazing volunteers support the staff team to get donations out onto the shop floor and redistributed to families on low income via our Carousel Programme.
We offer opportunities in both our shop and sorting hub which are based in the Southside of Glasgow. We currently have around 20 volunteers covering a variety of roles such as sorting our donations, making up our beautiful Carousel Packs, testing our appliances, helping in our shop and delivering stock and packs to our partnership agencies.
Current volunteer opportunities
Retail assistant volunteer
Our retail team member volunteers can be found in our gorgeous boutique shop. Here they assist with quality checking all of the non textile donations such as books, toys and baby equipment. This role involves making sure that our products are safe and clean before being displayed in the shop for sale. This is an opportunity to hang out with a fantastic team, whilst gaining retail experience by helping customers on the shop floor. Click Here for more information.
Our team of donations volunteers carry out quality control checks before sizing and sorting them into our MGR categories. Our Merry-go-round hub is the core of MGR, where all the behind the scenes prep happens and where the start of the recycling of textiles journey begins. Our beautiful Carousel Packs are prepared in the Merry-go-round hub. This role involves selecting stock and packaging items into our MGR bags. It is a rewarding activity as you prepare the free packs that are given to families on low income. Working as part of a team you will meet lots of lovely people whilst helping others.
